So you are thinking about having cosmetic surgery sometime in the near future? But how near in the future are you talking?
Choosing when to have a cosmetic surgery procedure can be difficult; this is because there are many different factors you are going to have to consider. To ensure that your cosmetic surgery procedure is as effective as possible, you should plan it well in advance.
Alex Karidis works on behalf of St John and St Elizabeth Hospital in London, he explains that timing is everything with cosmetic surgery. He said “I see women with terribly saggy faces asking if they are too young for a facelift, when it’s already too late” rather than waiting too long or spending money on unneeded surgery, you should speak and arrange a well detailed plan with your surgeon.
To give you a better idea of the perfect age for cosmetic surgery; here is the ultimate age guide:
Botox
40+
So botox is the procedure that reduces the amount of wrinkles that appear on our face, increasing firmness. Many will ask the question whether they have to wait for the wrinkles to appear first or do you start going for botox well before any signs of wrinkles appear?
Wrinkles do not actually become permanent until your early 40s, so there is not much need to go for botox any earlier than this age.
Rather than putting money down the drain, you can complete some simple face exercises to reduce the amount of wrinkles appearing on your face.
Breast Implants
25+
Womens breasts stop developing at around the age of 18, so most surgeons will refuse to give girls under the age of 18 breast implants.
It is thought the perfect age for breast implants is around 25 years old, this is because at this point the woman can judge the situation better and make a better informed decision to whether breast implants is the right choice for them. Breast implants will need replacing after about 15 years, so it is then up to the woman to replace them or go without.
Tummy Tuck
35+
Surgeons advise women not to have a tummy tuck until you have had your last child as the procedure will otherwise be deemed as pointless as everything is going to stretch again. A lot of women seem to think a tummy tuck is the perfect procedure to tone up and look fit, however most surgeons will refuse to complete tummy tucks on women under the age of 35.
Rhinoplasty
20+
A nose job should never be completed on a man aged 19 or under, or a woman aged 18 or under, this is because the facial bones have not yet stopped growing so further issues can arise in the future.
Rhinoplasty procedures are usually more successful the younger you are, this is because the skin readapts itself to the shape much faster than older people. As no repeat surgery is needed and facial bones finish growing at a young age, there is not much point in delaying this type of surgery.
Facelift
40+
Most women do not know when the best time to have a face lift is, are you supposed to wait until everything has dropped? Or should you prepare your skin and have a facelift in your 30s to stop everything from falling soon?
Surgeons will advise patients to have a face lift in their 40s, this is because the skin is still quite elastic – making the results better. A majority of women will wait until they are in their 50s for a facelift as they want longer lasting results.
