Animal Proteins

Advantages:

  • Enough of all the essential amino acids
  • Slightly higher digestibility
  • Higher proportion of protein to the received volume

Disadvantages:

  • Higher in saturated fat
  • The risk of putrefactive products and provocation of a colon cancer
  • Greater burden on the liver and kidneys
  • Residual content of antibiotics, growth stimulants, drugs or chemicals
  • The risk of food allergies (milk protein)

Vegetable Proteins

Advantages:

  • Lower amounts of some toxic substances
  • Minimum amounts of cholesterol
  • High content of essential fatty acids
  • High content of healthy substances – vitamins, minerals, fiber, enzymes

Disadvantages:

  • Incompleteness of amino acids
  • Small absolute amount of proteins – therefore the need of a greater volume of food
  • Higher risk of heavy metals occurence
  • The risk of food allergies – soy, wheat
