There’s a tattoo coverup solution for every beauty budget.
Even though tattoos are not as taboo as they once were, many occasions come up when you might want to hide your artwork. There’s a time and a place for everything and a job interview is not either when it comes to tattoos. They don’t compliment a wedding or bride’s maid dress terribly well either. Whatever the occasion, there are a few options for hiding your ink.
Many good products help cover body art for short periods. Most bridal stores stock, or at least recommend products for the job. It is worth asking about these when you have your fitting. Here are six proven products for covering tattoos:
Dermablend – Dermablend is probably the most popular and most successful form of makeup designed to cover tattoos. It was originally developed by a dermatologist searching for a product to help women cover unsightly skin conditions. It’s hypoallergenic and wonderful for sensitive skin. Once it has set, it does not rub off. Remarkably, it can last up to sixteen hours. It is available to order online, and comes with tutorials to show you how to apply it.
Tattoo Camo – As the name suggests, Tattoo Camo is designed to camouflage tattoos. It comes in a complete kit with all that is necessary to cover your art. It too is available online.
Stage Makeup – As experts in the art of covering tattoos, stage art has a handle on a whole range of block-out products. One of the most popular products is Killer Cover. It comes in a whole range of colors and tones and blends easily to form a solid cover. Other brands of stage makeup to try are Ben Nye or even a product called Mehron. Both are longwearing but can be a little more difficult to find.
CoverMark Tattoo Removal Kit – CoverMark is a cosmetic company that specializes in camouflage makeup. They have created a tattoo product that includes an applicator, a waterproof liquid foundation, primer and a finishing powder. It comes in a variety of shades and colors too. The kit also includes the products to help you remove it later.
Low-Budget Solution – Much of the quality tattoo-covering makeup is expensive. If you just need to cover your tattoo for an hour or two, such as at a job interview, try using white face paint. You can buy it at party and costume stores. Simply apply a thin coat over your tattoo. Wait for it to dry. You may need to apply a second coat. Once it’s dry, blend some of your regular liquid foundation over it to match your skin tone. Add a spritz of hairspray to help it stay longer.
Airbrushing and Tanning Sprays – If your tattoo is small or not overly dark, airbrushing may be an option for you. It would be worth discussing it with a salon. The Sally Hanson spray for legs is a good product to try at home.
Regardless of why you wish to cover your tattoo, make sure to try products before the event. It may take a few trials to get it right. It also depends on your skin type, color and the size, style and location of your tattoo. Take the time to experiment with your cover-up.
