How many times have you ended up with terrible skin while on holiday because you spent too long in the sun? Most of us try and go on a mission to fry ourselves, but we just end up looking like a lobster. It’s easy to keep your skin looking great, but you have to do things a certain way. Your holiday is going to be different this year because we’re going to look at some amazing tips that will help you look after it the right way.
Wear the right sunscreen
If you have pale white skin and red hair you might need a stronger sunscreen than someone with darker skin and hair. Everyone should wear protection if they spend any time in the sun, but just because you are wearing sunscreen doesn’t mean you will be safe. Make sure you don’t choose one that will offer you the same protection as carrot oil, plus you should put some on regularly when you’re outside.
Don’t be afraid of the sun
Just because it’s hot doesn’t mean you need to spend your holiday underneath a beach umbrella. They say people with a suntan automatically look more attractive because their skin looks like it is glowing. You can still spend some time in the sun to get a little tan, but you should try to stay in the shade during the hottest time of the day because that is when you’ll feel like you are inside an oven.
Use plenty of after-sun lotion
Once you have been in the shower at night you should put some after-sun lotion on your skin. If you’ve been in the sun all day your skin will be very hot. After-sun lotion will help to cool it down and there is less chance of you ending up in pain. The lotion is also full of other wonderful ingredients that are good for your skin.
Go for a dip in the sea
Did you know that swimming in the sea is very cleansing to the skin because of the salt in the water? You should spend some time in the sea during your holiday instead of bathing in a swimming pool full of nasty chemicals. If you have any skin problems you have even more reason to go for a dip in the sea because it will gradually improve the condition and appearance of your disorder.
Eat fresh fruit, fish and veg
If you don’t eat healthy food at the moment you should start when it’s hot because it’s as good a time as any. Sitting outside in the sun eating a salad is easier than eating one when it’s snowing. Oily fish contains a lot of omega-3 which is great for your skin. Fruit and vegetables are full of wonderful vitamins and minerals, so don’t forget to get more of those down your throat too.
Shower regularly
You will probably end up in the swimming pool at some point during your holiday and it’s not the end of the world, but you should shower as soon as you jump out. It means your body will be free of nasty chemicals before you go and lie down. You will also sweat a lot more when it’s hot, so it won’t hurt to jump in the shower and clean it off every once in a while.
Don’t ruin your skin
Your skin is the biggest organ in your entire body and you have to look after it. We’ve talked about some great ways you can keep your skin looking great this summer, so don’t forget about them before you go away on holiday.
