If you are like most people, you probably hate to look in the mirror, for fear of facing the sad reality that you have recently gained a few extra pounds. Don’t worry, though. You are certainly not the only one who feels this way. It’s not the easiest thing in the world to stay in shape or keep on top of your health on a daily basis, especially if you are busy with work, kids, or whatever the case may be. Fortunately, you don’t have to succumb to this lifestyle or stay overweight forever. There are some signs you might need to get started losing weight and a few great ways to do so.
Tight Pants

If you have noticed lately that your pants have gotten a little bit tighter, chances are it’s not that they suddenly decided to shrink in the wash. That’s right, try as you may, you can’t make excuses for your weight gain and you can’t try to cover it up either. When it comes down to it in the end, what you really need to do is admit the problem and do something about it. Sitting around wondering how your pants shrunk or why you suddenly weigh more than you did a week ago isn’t going to do you any good. Get out, get active, and start losing those extra pounds as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to make the progress you want.
Comments from Friends and Family
Another way you can tell that you might need to lose some weight is if your friends or family have said anything to you about it. Sometimes, these not-so-subtle hints are just ways for your loved ones to express their concern and try to get you to realize what you might not yet be able to see. Other people notice changes in you much easier than you notice these changes. This is because you see yourself everyday, so small differences are not as noticeable. However, even a five-pound gain over a week is something that pretty much anyone else would notice right away. If you have gotten a few hints about your weight, it might be time to do something about it. Try going on a weight loss program, exercising more often, or making healthier food choices. Whatever you do, make sure it is something effective in the long term and not just a temporary fix.
Feeling Sluggish
A third sign of being overweight is just feeling sluggish and lazy overall. Most times, when you are carrying around extra weight, you will not feel like yourself. In fact, you might even be feeling like you don’t fit in with your same friends or that your spouse is looking at your differently. These things are probably not true at all, but rather your insecurities getting to you. Don’t let your tiredness and fears get in the way of trying your best to lose some weight. In fact, you should know that once you do get rid of that extra fat, you will likely be back to your old self and feeling great once again. Know, though, that this process does take time, so don’t’ expect overnight results. The best thing you can do for yourself is to slowly work your way into a healthier and generally fitter lifestyle. Take one step at a time and you’ll be reaching your weight loss goals sooner than you know.
