Drinking filtered water may not taste as good to some, but you can’t deny the benefits it brings. While many have asked the question: does filtering your water take away some of the benefits? Many experts would answer no. Although bottled water has some dangerous disadvantages, the same does not seem to hold true for filtered water.

  • Mains or tap water – which is usually treated. You can taste the chemicals here in many cases, chlorine being the most well known. The after-taste is what people recognize and strongly dislike.
  • Filtered water – this can go directly on the faucet in your home, and can be done though a number of different systems. The most popular types of filters used work through reverse-osmosis. To ensure the filter continues to work as it should, most need to be changed on a regular basis.
  • Well water – there is much debate as to whether this water is clean. If you know where the water is coming from, it can be a way to get the trace minerals your body needs. If you are drinking well water, it is essential to test it often, because it can easily be contaminated.
  • Distilled water – this water was heated to steam, and then collected again. It is not ideal for drinking water. It has no minerals, and will pull essential minerals out of your body.
  • Spring water – this water is collected from an underground source, containing minerals. It is bottled and used in the home. Out of all the waters, it contains some of the highest content of minerals, and in many people’s opinions, tastes the purest. The biggest downfall with this source is the way it is packaged. The plastics can leak into the water, causing you to consume toxic chemicals.
  • Bottled water – this is similar to spring water, except for the source. The chemicals used, and the price of this water makes it undesirable for many. For some countries, it is the only source of clean water available, and is the best option.
  • Hard water with a water softener – the solution of this water can create problems for you. The high sodium content can be damaging to consume regularly over time.

Consider all these options when choosing the right water for you. Bottled water is much worse for you than filtered water, although people often think of them as the same. When looking for the perfect water for you, consider the advantages of filtered water.

Even though there are many different types of water filters, they all strive to complete the same functions. With a water filter, your water will taste better, and have the worst of chlorine and bacterium contaminants removed.

A filter does take out many of the minerals in the water, but not all of them. In the long run, it will take out more harmful elements than good ones. This will help protect your body from disease, and give you better overall health in the long run.

Investing in a water filter is a good idea for many, especially if you live in an area that has hard water. It can help you filter out some of the chemicals that can damage your body. Research which type of water works best for you, and avoid using plastic bottles as much as possible.
