At the end of the study period, all the groups took part in a memory test. Surprisingly, the group of senior citizens who followed a very low calorie diet (VLCD) performed better than the rest.

In fact, researchers from the Robert Gordon University came to the same conclusion after reviewing the results of more than 30 weight loss studies.
